It all started when…
Mexican Arts Imports was established in 1968 by Fred Montez and his son Fred Montez Jr. Today, the company runs four-generations deep with family employees.
Mr. Montez worked at Motorola during the week but started a second job selling Mexican-based product at a local swap market on the weekends. Shortly after, his passion for connecting people through art evolved into Mexican Arts Imports. Mr. Montez quit his week job day to pursue a new career traveling to Mexico, working with artisans and hand-picking unique items to sell.
Eventually, a physical store was built in 1970 on Van Buren and 32nd Street in Phoenix to cater to a fast-growing audience looking for more product.
In 1999, the store moved into its current location which was originally the warehouse.
Today, Mexican Arts Imports sells hundreds of products with multiple variations unique to Mexico. The store is owned and ran by Fred Montez the third. Alongside him are his siblings and children who all play vital roles in the store’s success.
Mexican Arts Imports is dedicated to providing locals with authentic art from all over Mexico showcasing a variety of artists and styles.
